# Notifications & preferences

Votare keeps you informed by email, and you decide how much of that you want. This guide covers where to manage your preferences and what kinds of emails to expect.

## Where to manage your preferences

Your preferences live in account **Settings → Notifications**. Open Settings from your account, then go to the Notifications section to see everything you can control in one place.

## What you can control

From the Notifications preferences you can set:

- **Timezone** — the timezone your dates, times, and scheduled emails are based on. Setting this correctly means your daily summary and reminders land at the right time of day.
- **Planner daily summary** — opt in to a once-a-day email rounding up your allocations. See [Your planner & allocations](/docs/member/planner) for how this ties into your schedule.
- **Allocation-change alerts** — get an email when your allocations are added, changed, or removed.
- **Other email opt-ins** — additional email updates you can turn on or off to match how much you want to hear from Votare.

Turn on the ones that are useful to you and leave the rest off. You can adjust these any time.

## Emails you might receive

Depending on your preferences and what's happening in your organization, Votare may email you:

- **Invitations** — when you're invited to join an organization.
- **Alerts** — timely notifications, such as changes to your allocations.
- **Daily summaries** — your once-a-day planner rundown, if you've opted in.
- **Reminders** — nudges about things that need your attention.

## Getting the timing right

Because several of these emails are scheduled, your **timezone** matters. If summaries or reminders are arriving at odd hours, check that your timezone in Settings matches where you actually are.

## Tips

- Set your **timezone** first — it affects the timing of everything else.
- Turn on the **daily summary** if you like to plan your day from your inbox.
- Keep **allocation-change alerts** on if you want to know the moment your schedule shifts.
- Not getting emails you expect? Double-check they're opted in here, and look in your spam folder.
