# Projects & ideas

Projects are where your organization's work lives. You can explore what's happening, put forward your own ideas, join the projects you care about, and keep everyone posted with updates.

## Browse projects

Open the **Projects** area from the left sidebar to see the projects in your organization. From here you can get a sense of what teams are working on and find projects you'd like to be part of.

If you don't see a Projects section, your organization may not have it turned on yet. See [Getting started](/docs/member/getting-started) for more on how the sidebar changes based on your organization's setup and your role.

## Propose a new idea

Have something you think the team should work on? You can propose a new project idea.

1. Start a new project idea from the Projects area.
2. Describe what it is and why it matters.
3. Submit it.

Your idea begins life as **suggested**. It stays in that state until an **admin approves it**, at which point it becomes a full project. This keeps the project list intentional while still giving everyone a way to contribute ideas.

## Join a project

When a project interests you, you can **join** it to become a member. Joining signals that you're involved and helps the team know who's contributing.

## Star projects you're following

If you want to keep an eye on a project without necessarily joining it, you can **star** it. Starring is a simple way to bookmark the projects you're interested in so they're easy to find again.

## Post updates

Keep momentum visible by posting **updates** to a project. An update can be:

- A **video** — a quick demo or walkthrough.
- A **link** — point to something relevant elsewhere.
- **Notes** — a short written update on progress.

Regular updates give the rest of your organization a clear picture of where things stand without anyone having to ask.

- **Browse** to explore your organization's projects.
- **Propose** an idea — it's "suggested" until an admin approves it.
- **Join** projects to become a member.
- **Star** projects to follow the ones you care about.
- **Post updates** with a video, a link, or notes.
